The Valentines Offer

As you’ve probably picked up by now, I am passionate about you giving yourself time, care and general all round good stuff.

So it took me a while to work out how I could include that ethos in my Valentines promotion, and I am so happy with what I came up with.

Relaxation is one of the best things that we can do for our body, our brain and our minds.

My personal relaxation sessions allow your body to deeply relax and allow your mind to truly switch off.

Just imagine what it would be like if you could actually switch your mind off for a while, stop all those incessant worrying thoughts that go around and around and around.

But there is more:

Using deep relaxation we will also include some empowering thoughts, and a meditative type exercise which is designed to give you some inner strength and protection.

From just one session you can get some easy gentle shifts in your brain.

It’s quite simple, when you stop, really stop for a while; it clears out confusing pathways to your brain

which allows:

  • answers to come easily
  • to feel at ease
  • become in flow
  • access your creative brain

Plus for those of you who are intrigued by the hippy side of things, from the Australian Bush Flower Essences a free personal remedy for you to take away if you wish to keep the good shifts going for longer.

So you can buy a relaxation session for someone special in your life and keep the free one for yourself

…..

Or buy yourself the deal and keep the free one for you.

I am only offering 4 of these deals and they must be booked by the end of February. But you can experience the relaxation experience anytime in the next three months.

If everyone went the world would be happier

Warning This Blog contains a Rant

Guess What – No-one copes

It’s true, everyone puts on a smiling face and then goes home and falls apart.

Everyone has knee-jerk reactions to things.

Reactions which they regret later.

Reactions which deep down we know is based on other things, and not really at the matter at hand.

We all have these demons inside which are from learned or past experiences which we allow to rule our life in the here and now.

It doesn’t have to be that way

One of the most frustrating things I find talking to friends, loved ones, or people I have just met is this idea that if you “go and see a professional” that you have in some way failed.

When your boiler breaks down – you get in a plumber

When your car breaks down – you go see a mechanic

Because you don’t have the working knowledge of the parts and how they work together to go and fix it.

Yet when our emotions break down, we are supposed to just struggle along silently. Making the same mistakes with nothing changing or getting better

and why do we do this?

Because society has this misguided concept that if you seek professional help to deal with a trauma (however large or small) that we have in some Failed. Or that we are Broken. Or that we are really Bad.

Seeking professional help, be it counsellor, coach, therapist, reiki healer, – whomever or whatever their credentials is the smart intelligent move.

What it does is give you TOOLS, INFORMATION, UNDERSTANDING.

So those knee jerk reactions are not quite so damaging, so those bad thoughts are put in their place, so you can see the big picture clearly and in focus, not all blurred by events which have no bearing on the hear and now.

If more people took the courage to take their emotional baggage to a professional to clear out, how much of a happier world would we live in? Oh so much happier.

It is a simple rule, if you don’t have the tools to fix a problem yourself, then find someone who has.

Who do you compare yourself to?

So be honest now, who do you compare yourself too?

It is only natural, when we are children, we tend to compare over things like toys, or things we are allowed to do…..or not do.

My car is better than your car

So this can go on as adults

However what is that comparison really about?

Often it is “I’m not as good”. “They are better than me”.

The end result

Which of course leads to the inevitable “what’s the point in even trying”.

How many missed opportunities have you had because you lost faith in yourself with this perception that someone else was better than you.

Okay there are some cases when this might be true, a trained operatic singer for example will be able to sing figaro better than the rest of us…..
generally though there is no better than………

There is only different than.

It really is that simple. The differences that makes up the person who is YOU will attract certain people, the differences that makes up someone else will attract others.

So next time you catch yourself comparing yourself to others remember this.

Charlie Chaplin once came third in a Charlie Chaplin look-a-like contest!

Spiritually Grounded to achieve your dreams

When I first started in this line of work, I did receive some confused comments from my nearest and dearest. “but you have a psychology degree”…….

Things are abit different now. There is more openness and awareness of the extra levels to our existence.

So this little blog is about the connection between spiritual and grounded:

Day Dreams or Real Dreams

It is so easy, so nice and lovely to day-dream. To build those castles in the sky.

Why should they stay in the sky, drifting past on the clouds?

Today I ask you to take the time to be aware of who you are right now.

Have a look at the gap between where you are and where your dream is.

What needs to happen to close that gap between the now and the dream?

Is it difficult to settle in the here and now?

Are you so busy daydreaming that you don’t pay attention and seem absent minded?

Take some time now to fill your mind with this image of the Red Lilly.
This flower is also known as the Sacred Lotus and is a symbol of spirituality, yet as a flower it is of the earth.

Have a think about what that really means.

To be connected to the spirit is great and wonderful, but we live in reality.
Focus on the present, become grounded.

By being truely grounded we can open our connections to our spiritual plane and allow those day dreams to be part of our physical reality indeed.

Castles on the ground as it were….

Feeling Alone, You are not the only one

Recently I have come across so many examples of people feeling isolated, abandoned or alone.

From the shyness of meeting new people, a bad manager at work leaving you feeling unappreciated and taken advantage of, to the loss of loved ones, relationship break downs or battling illness.

Tip One: You Are Not Alone.

Sometimes when we feel alone we can change that by simply opening up. I guarantee whenever you feel lost and alone, someone else will be feeling the same, has felt the same or will feel the same in the future.  Our own experiences can help others, support others or allow ourselves to be supported in return.

If you open yourself up to sharing your feelings with the people around you, you may discover that you have more connections than you even realised.

Tip Two: Go Hippy and Give a Flower Essence a Try

If you are a fan of flower essences than you may like to try this little gem.

If you have deeper feelings of abandonment or isolation, then you may wish to work with the Tall Yellow Top essence.

This flower belongs to the daisy family and is the third largest plant family in Australia.

Its slow, gentle, but deep reaching action works to re-establish your connections with the world and your emotions with people once more.

Awaken your sense of belonging: the most secure place of home you can have is in your own skin.

If you would like to purchase Tall Yellow Top please use the paypal link below. You will receive a month's supply. Please do contact me with any questions.

Where did the cold go?

Is it going to be cold again tomorrow? I hope so.

Don’t get me wrong. I really really struggle with the cold (it’s one of the symptoms of my particular medical disorder that I live with); I go out as rugged up as I possibly can and my fingers and toes become ice blocks in the space of two minutes.

However, I have had serious concerns about this winter.

  • I saw butterflies mating in November.
  • There are doffodils trying to come through already.
  • So many bugs are going around because it just hasn’t been cold enough to kill them.

I know we all winge about the cold, the winter, the dark and the grey.  But we need our seasons.

It is one of the reasons why we have such a beautiful green lush land to enjoy.

Surely another grave sign of our planet being out of balance?

Come on winter.  Let’s get some more of the cold refreshing frosty mornings happening again.

My thank you

Therapist to Business Woman

I’ve had quite a year.

This time last year I was still working with my therapies part time, as I have done so for the last 15 years. I knew I was a great therapist (my clients and the turn around time on results told me that). But I had this real blockage.

I didn’t know how to be a business woman. I didn’t know how to run a business.

I hadn’t heard of the term womanpreneur and although I knew about life coaching I hadn’t considered a coach for my business.

This time last year that is exactly what I did. I found an amazing womanpreneur coach.

Enter Allison Marlowe

Winning Women

Now Allison has just won the Woman’s Coach of the Year APCTC Awards 2011 so you can imagine the kind of callibre that I had stumbled upon (although I don’t believe in stumbling upon, everything happens for a reason.)

So this blog is a little thank you to Allison Marlowe who so gently, easily and quickly showed me the way to be a business woman.

In fact I think it was in the space of about 2 months I started referring to myself as a business woman and someone who ‘owned a business’.

In the space of three months I ditched the day job and was offering my therapies on a full time basis.

Over the year I have learnt how to plan, strategise, work through personal blockages, about network events, copy, press releases, lists, webinars, teleseminars … well you get the picture:

Of course you can get this information from various sources, but the key thing that I found about working with Allison, is that all of that information was tailored to what was right for me. What was right for my business, not a generic one size fits all.

Having a coach not only gives you a skill set but helps you develop them in way and a pace that is right for you.

The Next Chapter

So where am I now? Business Woman extraordinaire!

Well I am aware that I am so much more than a therapist

What I do literally transforms people’s lives. Transformation
Gives them back freedom and choice, finds their true identity, life plan and purpose. Bringing excitement, joy and inner strength back into their lives.

In fact by getting a coach, my business life has been transformed and I am able to bring brighter and bigger and better things to my clients.

So Thank you Allison Marlowe.

It’s been wonderful.

The worlds most effective affirmation

It’s true there is an affirmation that is highly effective, I would say it has a 95% success rate.

I see it being used to great effect all the time. Of course there are always exceptions, times when the subconscious mind will override this affirmation. But this is still the most used, and the most successful affirmation and it is in use every day.
So here it is:

 ”I can’t do this“, “I can’t do that

When you say it or hear it you know it’s true; you cant’ do that, and of course everytime you try to do ‘that’; whatever ‘that’ might be,  you fail.

You fail because everytime you think about it, talk about it, try it; all your brain hears is the very very clear instruction “I Can’t”.

And why is this?

Emotions

Our mind and our body deals with emotion all the time,  understanding the feelings and using them as a powerful motivator. Have a think about what kind of feelings the words I can’t are creating as a motivator.

The brain however doesn’t feel emotions, so when you say ‘I can’t’ but inside you are hoping that you can, well that little bit of hope isn’t going to have any attention paid to it at all. It’s just the nature of how the brain and the mind work differently.

So here is my little challenge to you.

How much of your life are you restricting by allowing the words “I can’t” to exist in your brain?

There are alternatives

Here are some of my suggestions to replace “I can’t”.

“That is challenging”

“I am learning that”

“I can”

I am talking about tips like this on my complimentary webinar “To affirm or not to affirm, that is the question”.

So if this has whet your appetite and you would like to know more about getting affirmations to work for you rather than against you, book now as places are limited.
My Webinar

In the meantime, have a good practice at turning that affirmation around into something that will work for your life. You CAN do it!!

Winge about Sky

Right I’m going to have a good old winge.

I’m having a lazy day, catching up on some telly and a generally chill out day and to be honest this is a very minor winge as I’m having a lovely relaxing time.

But am I the only one who find it really really annoying that Sky keep on putting on shows and then they ‘take a break’ so you have a whole season split into two parts……. why not just wait til you have the whole season and then show it as once.

Now I’m just going to have to keep a series on SKYPLUS til the whole lot has been aired. grumble grumble.

While I am here, it is also really annoying to be watching a show and get the ‘next time on ….’ I don’t want to know what is going to happen. I want to watch it and find out. No Spoilers please!!

p.s just started watching the new Sherlock on BBC. Loving it. The remote control is on standby to turn it off at the end of the credits; just in case *grin*

This Mentoring Lark

I’ve had a very reflective morning:
Each month I attend a Power Group; a really wonderful coaching circle which is not a mastermind group or a VIP group. It is a very pure, relaxed, open way of working on your own business within a supportive group (who are all busy working on their own business whilst being quietly supported by me.) ……… You know what; this is really one of those things that you have to try to be able to understand the experience; so if you are intrigued check our their website (after you’ve finished reading here of course te he).

I was exploring options for marketing my new mentoring programme and I was invited to look at what Mentor meant. So out came the dictionary, and of course there were no surprises, “Experienced trainer or advisor”, from the character Mentor who advised Telemachus in Homer’s Odyssey.  Which I was aware of:

But it did give me a great moment of reflection, what my experience really is. If mentoring is to say ‘to be like me‘…. which bits of ‘me’ was I wanting to put out there.

I was surprised by what I came up with – I was thinking about comments that friends have made about me over the years and there were some great examples really together”;  ”always smiling”; “calm”; “problem solver”;   (I’m only including here comments that I think are relevant to my business mentoring programme by the way)

As a womanpreneur I often hear the fabulous advice “people buy people” and “you are your product“, but I think this is the first time that I have applied to so literally before.

So if you are looking for a mentor who is ‘together’, ‘calm’, ‘empowered’ and also lives life in the fun lane then we should talk.

And to finish off here is a picture of me, aged 4.  I still love beads and puppies.

You can email me now for details: discover@joannerburrell.com Or just enjoy the picture.
