What are the type of life issues that RPT can sort out?
Here are some examples of the more usual issues that we struggle with in modern life. This is not an exhaustive list so please contact me if you have a different issue to work with. All these issues I work with at my clinics in Chichester and Havant.
Anger
Are you aware that you are feeling angry over and above what would be considered normal. Are you feeling angry all of the time.
Or there may be a very specific event that left you feeling angry and you just can't get rid of it.
Treatment for anger vary from person to person, but there are similarities between them:
Using hypnotherapy or kinesiology we can identify the original trigger point for your anger (if appropriate).
Using different techniques to take the sting out of the emotion of the trigger moment, to understand the feelings
involved and the level of choice and control that you had then and which you have now.
Re-introducing the ability to be in control of your own emotions
Leave the anger behind.
Abuse/Trauma
There are many types of abuse; emotional, physical, sexual and all of of these can leave a person traumatised or suffering from PTSD. Trauma can be the result of many incidents, such as car accidents, witnessing a violent act, the loss of a loved one etc.
With Kinesiology techniques it is not always necessary to 're-live' the traumatic event. We will use the healing power of your brain to create 'space' between the incident and your day to day living. Gradually building up your mental and emotional strength to take back control of your life and leave the past behind.
If it is necessary to explore the event, then using hypnosis is a very safe way to do so. You will be in control over how much you explore, at what pace and what emotions you are ready to explore and then release. This technique is very cathartic and allows the brain and mind to process events in a very short space of time.
After you have released yourself from the grip of an abusive or traumatic event, you will feel as if a tremendous weight has been lifted from your shoulders. You will interact with the world stronger and more in control than you ever have done before before. The old cliche, "what doesn't break you will make you stronger", will have real meaning to you as you claim back your life.
ADD
Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) refers to a range of problem behaviours associated with poor attention span. These may include impulsiveness, restlessness and hyperactivity, as well as inattentiveness, and often prevent children from learning and socialising well. Like many behaviour disorders, especially those for children the underlying cause and successful treatment can be very difficult to diagnose with many professionals taking radically differing view points.
Kinesiology can be used alongside any treatment recommend by a doctor. Using muscle testing the emotional impact of this disorder can be explored. Coping mechanisms can be explored to help manage the problem more effectively. When dealing with any emotional or psychological state communication with the sub-conscious mind can be very revealing. Understanding some of the root causes behind the condition can be hugely beneficial. Muscle Testing can also be used to determine if there are any nutritional causes or benefits.
Addictions/Habits/Misuse
Any addiction is challenging to beat because it involves so much interaction with the physiological, the psychological and the emotional needs and wants. Kinesiology and Hypnotherapy are powerful tools to use to help break addictive cycles to replace habits with new ones and to really understand what the cost (financial, emotional etc) of your addiction is and how motivated you are to get rid of the habit. The aim of the treatment will be to re-program the brain to return the body to the natural state that existed before the addiction started. This re-programming is a perfectly natural process and is used to great effect for additions such as smoking but it is also useful for other addictions such as gambling, alcohol, over eating, excessive exercise etc.
Anxiety/Panic Attacks/Phobias
There are many differing levels of anxiety the most severe being panic attacks and phobias. However even minor anxiety can act as a major stressor. When we are anxious our brain and body can not operate as effectively as normal. If this goes on for a prolonged period of time other issues such as low-self esteem can develop or even physical manifestations such as loss of appetite, or a low immune system. Identifying the cause of anxiety is key to managing its affect. Muscle Testing provides a non-threatening and simple way of identifying the root cause of anxiety. Often the underlying cause will be from an event that occurred in the past, and lessons learnt at the point in time is contributing to anxiety in the present time. Sessions dealing with this type of issue is very focused on working with past and present memories and developing coping mechanisms to gradually and gently diminish the signs and symptoms of anxiety.

Bereavement
Grieving is a natural state that we all experience at the loss of a loved one. Each of us will grieve in different ways and there are many emotions associated with this state, such as sadness, anger, lethargy and guilt. It is from experiencing and releasing these emotions that the healing nature of grief can occur. Unfortunately it is not always possible to grieve in the natural way. When that happens these emotions get bottled up inside and never released. Because these feelings were not managed at the time it seems there is never a good time to deal with them. So the emotions stay with us, unresolved, sometimes for years. Resolving the pain of a bereavement is a courageous decision and the treatment of this issue is carried out gently and at your own pace. Releasing grief can help you to honour a loved ones memory at the same time as acknowledging how your life has or has not changed without them.
Childhood Trauma
The impact of childhood trauma can be far reaching into adult life. The effects can be manifested in many different ways: lack of confidence, low self esteem, eating disorders, phobias, putting on a brave face, anxiety, shyness, repeating bad patterns (such as constantly choosing the wrong person to have a relationship with). In whatever way a childhood trauma has affected your life the tools and techniques used are designed to release you from the impact of the event of the past. There is no requirement to remember your past, many people can not remember their childhood. However the subconscious mind and the brain has access to all the memories from your past so the trauma can still be dealt with in order for it to stop impacting how you live your adult life.

Depression
Yes there are alternatives to popping the pills to treat depression. Hypnotherapy, Kinesiology and especially the Australian Bush Flower Essences are tremendously effective at transforming depression. We will locate the triggers for your depressed feelings and really work with them, not by talking, but through the power of the mind, understanding how the brain works and bringing the body into balance. Dyslexia
There are many different forms of dyslexia and understanding how the brain processes information is highly complicated. 3-in-1 concepts has developed mental training techniques to help strengthen the pathways of the brain. This is known as Brain Gym and is being used in primary schools to aid concentration. These techniques can easily be learnt and used at home. Emotional stressors on things like reading, writing or working with numbers can also be identified. Removing the stress allows the brain some breathing space to find the right pathways, instead of getting uptight about it and putting more barriers in place, which just exacerbates the problem.
Driving Test / Exam Nerves / Stage Fright
Kinesiology is based on a combination of Chinese medicine, chiropractic methods and western techniques. When treating exam nerves acupressure points can be massaged. This is done whilst thinking about the test, as the body is gradually relaxed it creates a positive feedback to the brain. The brain receives calm signals instead of stressed signals and the body/brain/mind returns to a balanced state. This is a very effective way to remove the nerves that can stop you performing to your best ability.
Eating Disorders
Managing and overcoming eating disorders can seem overwhelming, complicated and difficult to realise. The types of issues associated with eating disorders are wide ranging, such as control issues, misperception of self image and these are things that can be treated with kinesiology and or hypnotherapy. Sometimes the trigger for eating disorders lies in a past emotional or traumatic event, or it could be a culmination of events. By identifying the root cause or triggers and diffusing the emotional pain associated with it can be hugely beneficial in overcoming the eating disorder itself. Removing emotional trauma can feel very liberating, leaving you free to work on the habitual side of the disorder with greater ease and more success.
Eczema/Psorisis
Skin conditions like these can be very difficult to treat, and many people are uncomfortable with steroid treatments. Using muscle testing your body can be tested to work out what are the best/worst foods for you and if you would benefit from any supplements. Changing diet can often have a positive change on skin disorders. In addition these conditions are exacerbated by stress and emotional upsets. Sometimes it can actually be an emotional upset that triggered the condition. Identifying and releasing these emotional triggers can be a powerful way to treat this condition alongside any other medications being used.
Fatigue
Feeling fatigue can have both emotional and physical causes. The treatment will vary according to the cause. For physical causes such as M.E a regular balancing of the meridians, massaging acupressure points etc will provide an energising top up. With emotional causes, releasing the negative emotion can feel like a huge weight has been lifted. Removal of this emotional weight can be a huge factor in increasing your energy levels.
Feeling Upset
There are many times in our life when we need extra support and help. Often these times can be characterised by expressions such as "I should be able to cope", "I just don't feel right" or "I know what I want to change but I don't know how".
Perhaps you have had enough of carting around your emotional baggage, or do you have day to day struggles (e.g. work stress, depression, wedding planning, expectant parent, relationship breakup, bereavement etc) that means you are unable to function to your full ability?
This treatment uses a combination of the techniques used in Hypnotherapy, Kinesiology and NLP and is an alternative to more traditional therapies such as Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Psychotherapy. Often there is very little talking required; you don't need to analyse or even remember the root cause of your issues in order to stop it impacting your life. Because these complimentary therapies interact with the brain, body and mind the results can be realised much quicker than with other therapies.
IBS
Our stomachs and our digestive systems are very sensitive to our emotions. We can end up carrying unresolved conflict or upset around with us for years. Sometimes the trigger for conditions like IBS has an underlying emotional cause. Certainly stress and emotional upset contribute to the severity of the problem. Identifying and releasing this emotional cause can help the body revert back to a normal healthy state. In addition, using muscle testing your body can be tested to work out what are the best/worst foods for you and if you would benefit from any supplements. Muscle testing is different to allergy testing as this test is specific to any given point in time. Regular treatments mean that we can track how your body is progressing in reaction to various foods, giving you much greater control and understanding of the best way to nourish your body.
Life Coaching
Using kinesiology as a tool in life coaching is different to other types of coaching. It is based on dealing with what the priority is in your life at that particular point in time, and the priority may not always be what you think it is. It can quickly and easily find the underlying learnt responses that are holding you back or making it hard to make decisions. It is very good for increasing confidence and self esteem and also to help 'clear the path' to make decisions quickly and easily. New Parent Fears
When dealing with a major shift or change in our life the automatic reaction of our brain is to start imagining all the things that can go wrong. This is a healthy response as it helps us to prepare for all sorts of eventualities. However, quite often this fear response goes into overdrive, worrying all the time and feeling anxious and inadequate as a result. The goal of these sessions is to help new parents to recognise their own skills and experience that they can draw on to overcome these fears. In order to do so we explore what negative preconceptions you have about your own abilities that are based on past events which are no longer relevant. Removing these preconceptions frees up our ability to overcome the worries and anxieties of being a new parent.
Night Terrors
Night terrors are a sleep disorder associated with high levels of anxiety and panic, often accompanied by screaming, flailing, fast breathing, and sweating that usually occur within a few hours after going to sleep. Night terrors are differentiated from nightmares in that they have been shown to occur during Stage 4 of sleep, or in REM sleep, while nightmares can occur anytime throughout the sleep cycle. Both hypnotherapy and kinesiology techniques can access the information in the subconscious mind in order to unravel the causes of the terrors. This treatment is very specific to the individual and is carried out gently and slowly to enable you to calmly dissociate from the terrors.
For some people it is necessary to find and confront the cause of the night terror, but sometimes this is not the case and the goal of the session is simply to release the emotion that the brain and mind has become fixated on.
Pain Management
Often a story will come out in the media about a person using hypnosis to undergo surgery instead of an anaesthetic. It sounds like a sensational experience, yet in the days prior to anaesthetic hypnosis was a popular method used by surgeons to ease the trauma of the surgery. Using hypnosis for pain management has a long history of success. It is very useful for allowing the mind and brain to 'switch off' awareness of the pain that the body is experiencing. Sessions are designed to teach you 'self hypnosis' so that you can use the technique at will to manage your pain according to your needs.
Pre/Post-Op Recovery
This is a two stage treatment which aims to optimise your recovery rate from an operation. Getting psychologically prepared for an operation can have a huge impact on the speed of your recovery. If you are mentally prepared and calm about a procedure this calmness will be reflected in your body and that relaxation can help with your body's reaction to the surgery. Following an operation sessions can 'mop up' any emotional of psychological reaction of shock. Using Touch For Health techniques provides a gentle way of strengthening the body, the immune system and the emotions to aid recovery. Home visits are arranged when needed.

PTSD
Post traumatic stress disorder is known as an ailment of the modern world. Symptoms only first being recorded in medical reports on men returning from the trenches in WW1 severely traumatised. It is perhaps still largely associated with serving men and women returning home from warzones, but it can also be experienced by anyone who has experienced a trauma (such as a sexual assault, traffic accident or witnessing a violent act). PTSD was originally very hard to treat in the therapeutic world as most therapies are based on the assumption that problems and issues are rooted in a trauma from the past. Hypnotherapy, NLP, Kinesiology and Bush Flower Essences all have tools and techniques that allow release of the emotional pain cause by recent traumas. It is important to note that it is NOT always necessary to re-live the trauma in order to release it's impact on your life.

Relationship Breakups
This is an issue that encompasses so many types of stress. Using hypnotherapy suggestions helps your brain and mind to accept the new self image of yourself as an ex-smoker. These suggestions are powerful because they are tailored specifically to you and your lifestyle. You can explore strategies to avoid the pitfalls that may, or have in the past, prevented your success in becoming a non-smoker. Your own motivation is of vital importance when creating these suggestions to create a successful transformation.
Self Harming
Treatment for this issue also includes building up confidence and a sense of personal self esteem and worth, as well as peeling back emotional layers the determine to root cause and triggers for the behaviour. Using muscle testing means that talking is not always a requirement or large part of the treatment. The goal is to re-programme the brain to find other ways to deal with stressful situations and to acknowledge past traumas that are contributing to this type of negative behaviour.
Shyness
This can be a debilitating negative behaviour holding you back in both your work and personal life. Treatment will involve working on building up confidence and look at what events in your life have contributed to your subconscious mind choosing to remain shy. The goal will be to programme your brain to recognise when it is appropriate to put shyness to one side and find new mental strength and confidence to put yourself out there.
Sleep Problems
Insomnia and other sleep problems are part of a vicious circle, stress or anxiety cause the sleep problem, and then the lack of sleep makes the stress worse. Using hypnosis to programme the brain to readily accept a normal sleeping is a straight forward process and the effects can be felt instantaneously. Other techniques can then be used to help manage the stressful situations which are contributing to the original sleep problem to stop re-occurrence further down the line.
Sports Performance
The use of hypnosis is becoming more and more popular to improve performance in the world of sports and performing arts. Being able to clearly visualise a goal and being successful in achieving that goal, when correctly carried out whilst in a natural state of hypnotic trance; gives the brain a template. This template, as with all our life experiences, allows the brain and body to be comfortable with the concept of a goal being achievable. In other words the brain believes in the success because it has already 'seen it happen'. Time and time again these visualisation techniques have proven successful, especially in the arena of performance, whether this is shooting a hoop in basketball or remembering every single line in a play.
Stress
Stress can be highly debilitating and if left unchecked for a prolonged period of time can cause serious physiological effects such as cardiac arrest. Treatment of the stress is specific to the individuals personal circumstances. Generally it involves locating what the trigger(s) for the stress are. Often with stress you feel as if you have no choice or control over a situation. The goal of sessions is to explore ways you can change your emotional reactions. Gaining control over your negative responses, diffusing them and replacing them with positive feelings of control helps not only with the emotional response of stress but also with any stressful decisions that you may have to make to rectify the situation.
Wedding Jitters
Worried about being the centre of attention? Falling over? Things going wrong? Making speeches? There are so many stressful aspects of planning a wedding and committing to a marriage that can cause anxiety or panic. Treatments are similar to those for stress and anxiety, but are more weighted towards confidence building.

Session 1
Your first step on the journey to the new you starts with a session that lasts around two hours. During this time we will analyse your current relationship with food; such as your eating habits (when, what, why, how) before using my RPT technique to make some quick fixes; deep powerful suggestions to your subconscious mind that change is possible.Session 2
Around 2-4 weeks later you will have a session to work through any self sabotage, negative behaviours and blockages that your mind may have manifested to prevent the positive changes taking place (a common reason why diets fail). The Hypno-Band system, developed by newwave Hypnotherapy, is designed to assist a client who is clinically obese, or has a high Body Mass Index (BMI) in weight loss. The procedure is a non-invasive alternative to gastric band surgery, giving the client a 'virtual' gastric band.
The programme has 4 sessions that include an initial consultation, the run up to the surgery, the 'fitting' of the gastric band and adjusting/reinforcing the chances. In greater detail, the whole programme is as follows:
Session 1
How the Hypno-Band works, explores your current eating habits before starting to change the negative eating behaviour patterns. You will also be given a hypnosis CD to reinforce the changes we have started to make.Session 2
We reinforce the behaviour changes from the first session, as well as introducing you to your virtual surgeon (an individual entirely of your own chosing). This session starts the hourney leading to the virtual surgery, whereby the process is descirbed in greater detail.Session 3

Between 4 and 6 weeks after the 'surgery' a further reinforcement session is conducted, as well as adjusting the hypno-band (in the case of eating too much or too little). Generally, no further sessions are required after this.

Women's Issues
When women suffer from any kind of gynaecological problem the consequences are felt not only on a physical level but can also destroy emotional and mental strength. Managing female problems such as endometriosis, fibroids, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or infertility with a combination of kinesiology and hypnotherapy or stand alone sessions can help in the following ways; increase mental strength to manage the problem on a day-to-day basis, decrease stress which exacerbates the pain/problem, increase physical and mental energy, develop coping strategies, release the mental anguish and take back a sense of control of the issue.
